Buying equipment under NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can fund mobility and daily living equipment as Assistive Technology when it is included in a participant's plan and considered "reasonable and necessary" for their disability-related needs.

How NDIS management types affect where you can shop

• Self-managed: you can purchase from any supplier, including Aged Care Direct, and claim the cost back against your plan.
• Plan-managed: your plan manager pays invoices on your behalf, and can pay Aged Care Direct directly once you provide them with our invoice.
• Agency-managed (NDIA-managed): only registered NDIS providers can invoice the NDIA directly. Aged Care Direct is not currently a registered NDIS provider, so agency-managed participants would need to use self-managed funds for a specific purchase, or choose a registered provider for that item.

What a good Assistive Technology quote includes

If you need a quote for your plan manager or support coordinator, ask us to include:

• Item description, brand and model
• Price including GST
• Delivery cost and estimated timeframe
• Our ABN and business details

Home Care Package funding

Home Care Package (HCP) participants may also be able to use package funds for approved equipment. This is managed through your HCP provider, not directly through the NDIA, so check your specific provider's process and any pre-approval requirements before ordering.
